Lawn Burials
Burials at Centennial Park are conducted with a sense of tradition, respect and dignity.
Centennial Park offers what it terms Lawn Burial areas which are the only watered areas in the park. All other sections rely on natural rainfall as the source of water.
The areas comprise non denominational sections, a Lutheran Lawn section and the Derrick Gardens which is a Services section.
In the non denominational areas the monuments are of a low and sloped granite base providing a particularly attractive panorama when busy with flower tributes after anniversaries such as Mothers Day.
The Lutheran Lawn area comprises traditional upright headstones to Centennial Park’s regulated height.
The Derrick Gardens were established in 1956 and are named after WWII Victoria Cross recipient Lieutenant Thomas Derrick. The first interment in this area must be either a returned or current service person and must be approved by the RSL.
At the western end of Derrick Gardens is the Cross Of Remembrance. This is where a very special Remembrance Day service is held on the 11th of November at 11am each year followed by refreshments in the Jubilee Chapel Complex. This service is open to the public.
Burial sites can be pre-paid so if you are thinking of this option, our experienced staff will be pleased to meet with you to discuss this and show you around our grounds.
