Vault Burials
Burials at Centennial Park are conducted with a sense of tradition, respect and dignity.
Within the range of options for burial are vault burials. These are restricted to one area of the park and all are double vaults. There are no single vault options.
A vault is an underground burial chamber designed to protect the coffin inside of it. Made of concrete the vault completely encloses a coffin. They are primarily used to keep the weight of the ground from crushing a buried coffin and also to keep the ground above from sinking in. Additionally vaults are designed to be sealed to keep water and other elements out.
Centennial Park has embarked on a revegetation throughout the cemetery which has provided a more natural habitat to attract native animals and birds. More than 2000 Australian native drought resistant trees and shrubs are progressively being planted along Centennial Park's boundary areas and corridors. The cemetery is already home to in excess of 30 native bird species as well as koalas, possums, three species of fish, lizards and two Chelonian tortoises.
A vault site can be pre-paid so if you are thinking of this option, our experienced staff will be pleased to meet with you to discuss this and show you the vault area.
