Contemplation Court Sandstone
This is a recent addition to the Contemplation Court area and further enhances this stunning location with tranquil water features.
The natural sandstone walls have wonderful colours and patterns through them. With plaques also made of the same sandstone with etched lettering and no added colour. The result is that from a distance it looks like a sandstone wall and it is not until you are up close that you see the etched wording on the plaques.
As an area for contemplation the following wording appropriatelty appears on a granite tablet at its entrance.
"KEEPING YOUR MEMORIES ALIVE
You can shed tears that they have gone.
Or you can smile because they have lived.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them.
Or you can be full of the love you shared, cherish the memory and let it live on.
You can close your mind, be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what they would want, smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
This certainly is a very unique location amongst the many memorial gardens of Centennial Park.
Charles Newman Fountain
Charles Newman Gardens provides a wonderful panorama of tiered rose gardens with a central Wisteria Arbour walk running down its length.
At the northern of the garden is the lower tier and a more mature section abutting a beautiful nature garden. Like many other areas of Centennial Park the proximity of such lush gardens attracts up to 30 native bird species and ads immensely to the overall atmosphere of these already picturesque gardens.
Against the edge of this nature garden is a length of traditional sandstone wall with attractive granite plaques.
The area lends itself to spending quiet time reflecting and taking in what is a very peaceful and restful environment.
East Area Fountain
East Area Fountain Walls are set in a stunning area of gardens in the north eastern corner of the park. The wall is made of natural sandstone with a sweeping curve. The patterns and colours of the walls are quite spectacular and are complemented with a predominance of wonderful roses.
Positions are available as either single or double with a bronze plaque placed over the position holding the cremated remains. A flower holder is attached to the plaque for the placement of a small floral tribute.
Like many other areas in the Park this area is very lush and attracts considerable bird life.
