Builder Appointed for Café and Function Facility

Builder Appointed for South Australia’s First Café and Function Facility Within a Cemetery and the Creation of New Jobs

A brand-new café, retail space and function facility at South Australia’s largest cemetery and crematorium, Centennial Park is another step closer with the announcement of the builder.

Centennial Park have announced that the successful tenderer for the building of their contemporary café and function facility is Chappell Builders – another strong South Australian organisation collaborating on this exciting project.

Studio S2 Architects are the architects and Blanco Horner Hospitality Management have already been appointed as the operators of this significant project.

Chappell Builders have displayed a willingness to listen and understand the unique requirements of this project within a very sensitive environment and have extensive experience in building and fit outs across many sectors, both private and government, including aged-care, education, health, community, retail and commercial, “ said Janet Miller, CEO Centennial Park Cemetery.

“We are very pleased that the building of our café and function facility for visitors will commence this month and that it will create jobs for South Australians. Chappell Builders will employ an average of 15 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) team members throughout the building works and Blanco Horner will require an average of 10 FTE team members to operate the café and function spaces,“ Janet said.

Chappell Builders have operated in South Australia for more than 50 years and offer a commitment to a personal approach in delivering quality and affordable projects.

Their high proportion of repeat work for clients and referrals – evidence that they work hard to complete jobs well, on time, and on budget.

“As a community organisation that exists for our families who have entrusted their loved ones with us, working with partners who equally value compassion, inclusion, excellence and innovation, as we do, is important to us,” Janet said

“More than 500,000 people visit us each year to visit a memorial, attend a service or one of our community engagement events, or to stroll through our stunning gardens, she said.

While Centennial Park will be the first cemetery in South Australia to build its own contemporary café and function area on-site, cafés and function facilities at other cemeteries interstate have been welcomed and utilised well by their communities.

The function facility will provide brand new spaces for families and friends to gather in to share stories and remember loved ones after funeral or memorial services in the Jubilee Complex.
